The frame is really easy to assemble. The wire mesh instructions don't tell you which way the roof wire mesh goes on, but I did mine side to side, and added a piece of wire, strung across the middle to support the join, as well as using my own cable ties to secure the overlapped join.
As a chicken cage, it might be secure enough, with the supplied cable ties, but maybe not secure against foxes and definitely not secure enough to keep a cat in.
I'm repurposing baling twine, from garden mulch, and wrapping the mesh onto the poles so there are no loose places a cat can push through.
There is plenty of wire mesh to allow a decent overhang, although, I did not know this until I got to the last part (the door).
If I did it again, I would give myself about a 10cm overhang and try to fold it neatly.
You need a hex head drill bit to secure the screws for the door, and one of the screws would not bite into the metal, but I had some spare in my home kit.
I still haven't finished, as it's time consuming to wrap the twine, and the weather has been challenging.
Once it is finished, I think it will be a fun place for my cat to enjoy the outdoors. I plan to add logs and such for climbing, although the frame isn't strong enough to lean them on.
Also, Im setting it up on paving so cannot secure it to the ground, so I won't be adding the plastic sheeting, to reduce wind resistance, and will put some bricks around the base to stop it from moving around.
I think it's great for the money, but an extra bag of cable ties would not go astray.
I'd love one that was oriented a different way, so 3 mtr long x 2 mtr wide, with the door at the 2mtr side. I guess that would then need an extra support in the middle.
It will be interesting to see how it looks finished off. I also think it would make a great frame for a greenhouse, or shade house
The run is perfect for my grand children's rabbits which were restricted to live in a cage. Now they can run about and jump in and out of their cage safely protected in the larger enclosure. The photo may not be clear, but I've put an additional tarp on one side for added protection from the elements.
It took me a while as I was building it over an existing garden as our cat loves to play in the bushes but I would never leave her out unsupervised so now she can have outside time while I’m not there
My Frankie is still exploring and getting used to her space. I like that I can get in easily and sit with her sometimes.
You need at least 2 people to build it and wire cutters.
The cage is shit u have stretch it to make it fit not worth the money and look shit the poles have bent also trash product not happy cable ties the dog hss chewed already
Really good cage, not difficult to put together, my only gripe is that there wasn't enough zip ties to hold the metal netting to the frame, tho that may have just had to do with how many I was using, I really didn't want my cats to squeeze through any gaps
This was a great buy. The only downfall is it has very basic instructions. All items are labelled well. I was able to assemble with a friend. Putting to wire up is more tricky but I have no experience whats so ever. A handy man would find it super easy. I am happy with the purchase and think it's great value for money. I have nearly completed it, just delayed due to weather
I adopted a 12 year old little cat and I was worried about her getting out of the house and getting lost as she apparently was before when she ended up in rescue care.
Some difficulties with mesh. Premium product otherwise and easily assembled. I got the 8x3 so it was the largest of the range. smaller ones would be a breeze. 2x Cats have room to run. And have not found a weak spot yet spite their best efforts
Is pretty good just a bit hard to attach wire with the wire supplied and latch is square not round to fit on gate which is making it hard to open and close but otherwise happy with it
