My feathered gals just have to learn to step on the lever in order to lift the lid, but they will get there! I added some anti-slip strips too, as they were sliding a bit when standing on it.

How it works
Fill the feeder with dry poultry feed and close the lid. When your chicken steps onto the embossed anti-slip treadle, the side linkages lift the lid so the bird can eat. Once the chicken steps away, the lid closes to cover the remaining feed.

Setup and care
Remove the protective film before use, assemble the feeder and place it on a stable, level surface. For best results and longer service life, position the feeder in a sheltered area and keep it stocked with clean, dry feed. Allow birds time to become familiar with the treadle mechanism.

It took a few days and a little bit of training for the chicken to learn how to use it but now that they do, they are happy. They were initially freaking out a bit then the hatch was closing on them but are used to it now. I haven't spotted any wasted food and the food stays dry even when it rains on the box. A great product!
